ملیحه بر اثر ضربه ی روحی در كودكی قدرت تكلم را از دست داده است و با یادآوری گذشته دچار تشنج عصبی می شود. آزار بچه های محل نیز ناسازگاری و پرخاشگری او را تشدید می كند، مسئولان آموزشگاه ناشنوایان تصمیم به اخراج او می گیرند، اما با تقاضای خانم شفیق، متخصص امور تربیتی، فرصت دیگری به او داده می شود. خانم شفیق اعتماد ملیحه را جلب می كند و با كمك شوك مصنوعی قدرت تكلم او را به او باز می گرداند.
